At Abbadoo Cocker Spaniels, we are committed to giving every puppy the very best start in life. Our puppies are bred from carefully selected parents with excellent temperaments, strong pedigrees, and extensive health testing. We focus on producing happy, healthy show-type Cocker Spaniels that will grow into wonderful companions for their new families. 🐾

All of our breeding dogs come from champion bloodlines and are fully DNA health tested and clear of important hereditary conditions. We also carefully select breeding pairs with low inbreeding coefficients (COI) to help maintain healthy genetics within the breed. Keeping the COI lower than the breed average helps support stronger long-term health and wellbeing.

Health Tested Parents

Both parents of our puppies are DNA tested and clear of the following genetic conditions:

  • Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS)
  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
  • Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
  • Familial Nephropathy (FN)
  • Phosphofructokinase Deficiency (PFK)
  • Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
  • Adult Onset Neuropathy (AON)

Where applicable, our male breeding dogs may also undergo additional health screening through the British Veterinary Association (BVA) health schemes, including:

  • Hip scoring
  • Elbow testing
  • Specialist eye examinations

Raised in a Loving Home

All puppies are raised inside our family home, surrounded by everyday household sights and sounds. This helps them grow into confident, well-adjusted puppies ready to settle into family life.

From an early age, puppies are gently introduced to:

  • Everyday household noises such as hoovers and hairdryers
  • Early grooming and handling
  • Children, people, and other dogs
  • Early crate and toilet training

With over 15 years of professional dog grooming experience, we also begin introducing puppies to grooming routines so they feel comfortable being brushed, handled, and cared for as they grow.

Kennel Club Registration

All puppies are registered with the The Kennel Club, giving you peace of mind about their pedigree and breeding background. Pedigree certificates can be obtained once the puppy is transferred into your name.

Veterinary Care

Before leaving for their new homes, every puppy receives:

  • Worming at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks
  • Flea treatment using Prinovox
  • A full veterinary health check
  • First vaccination with Canigen DHPPi/L4
  • Microchipping with documentation for easy transfer into your name

Your vet will then arrange your puppy’s second vaccination, usually four weeks after the first.

Insurance & Ongoing Support

For added reassurance, your puppy will leave with 4 weeks FREE insurance through Petplan, activated on the day you collect your puppy. This ensures your puppy is fully covered from the moment they leave for their new home.

We also offer lifetime breeder support, meaning we are always happy to offer advice or guidance throughout your dog’s life.

Abbadoo Cocker Spaniels is proud to be a licensed breeder with Shropshire Council, meeting high welfare standards and following strict guidelines to ensure every puppy is raised responsibly and with the highest level of care.

We carefully vet potential homes and keep records of where our puppies go, because we truly care about their future. We love staying in touch with our puppy families and seeing updates as they grow into happy, healthy dogs. 🐶💛
